Terms and conditions:
Prices quoted includes the following,
• Comprehensive insurance for any driver aged between 23 and 79
• Breakdown cover
• All cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery, dishcloth and tea towel
• Camping gas
Our standard excess is £500 for all drivers. Any drivers with a non UK driving licence ay need a larger security deposit.
In the event of any damage to either, the vehicle or third party property, the hirer will be liable for the excess. The hirer will also be fully liable for replacement or repair of windscreen or tyre damage. Insurance provided by us only covers the vehicle and does not cover personal possessions. We strongly recommend that you take out insurance to cover your personal items during the rental period.
We require a security deposit of £600 for all drivers. This needs to be paid prior to rental by traceable means i.e. bank transfer, cheque or paypal. This is fully refundable on return of the vehicle on the agreed date and time,
Your Security Deposit will be refunded in full if Your Campervan is returned:
undamaged and in neat, clean and tidy condition;
with a full tank of the appropriate fuel (including LPG if applicable);
with all kitchen equipment, additional hired equipment/extras undamaged; without any fines, penalties, charges or unpaid road or bridge tolls having been incurred. The Security Deposit will only be used to pay for any loss or damage to equipment, fixtures and fittings, windows, tyres or negligent damage to the vehicle.
We will not be liable for any fines, penalties, charges, costs or unpaid road or bridge tolls incurred during the Hire Period, and in the event that we require to meet these then we reserve the right to seek payment of these from You, and You authorize us to deduct these from the Security Deposit. In the event that we refund Your Security Deposit in full and we subsequently establish that You have incurred any of the liabilities listed above, we reserve the right to recover any such cost from You by deducting this from Your debit or credit card. If the costs due to us by You, or the loss or damage suffered by us as a result of any breach by You of these Terms and Conditions, is greater than the amount of the Security Deposit, then we shall retain the whole of the Security Deposit and seek an additional payment from You for the balance of the amount owed to us.
• No students. Age limits 23-75 with an excess of £500
• Driver must have held a valid licence for more than two years with no more than 6 points and one major insurance claim.
• Details of additional drivers required in advance.
• Production of valid standard driver’s licence/ or a copy is required from all drivers prior to hire.
• Please check licence carefully, if licence proves to be unacceptable at time of collection no monies will be refunded.
• Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (eg: speeding, parking fines, congestion charges), which are incurred during the period of hire.
• Each driver must provide 2 separate items with proof of address within the last 3 months.
We will also need you to provide us with a licence ‘check code’ to share your driving record. You can obtain this online at https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
Only the person(s) named as the Driver and Additional Driver(s) on the Booking Form may drive the Campervan. The terms of our Insurance Policy restrict the hire of Campervans to certain categories of person. While cover can usually be arranged under our Insurance Policy, this must be arranged in advance and You must let us know when You submit the Booking Form if You or any Additional Driver: are under 23 or over 75 years of age; have held a full driving licence valid in the United Kingdom or EU for less than 12 months; have been convicted of an offence in connection with the driving of a motor vehicle or motorcycle and/or have had their driving licence endorsed or suspended or penalty points imposed (but please note that parking offences, “spent” convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and not more than two speeding offences (i.e. 6 penalty points) in the past 3 years may be disregarded); suffer from any mental or physical defect or infirmity or from fits, diabetes or any heart complaint; have had their insurance declined and/or renewal refused and/or special insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience and/or have had their insurance or cover cancelled by any motor insurer; are engaged wholly or partly in professional entertainment or are professional sports persons; are connected with racing of any sort (including horseracing); have been involved in more than one accident whilst driving during the past 3 years; or are foreign service personnel other than persons born in the United Kingdom or have even been convicted of drunk driving.
Before the start of the Hire Period, further Additional Drivers may be added to Your booking at a cost of £10.00 per Additional Driver per day. A maximum of 1 Additional Driver may be permitted to drive Your Campervan. If You require an Additional Driver to be added to Your booking at any time during the Hire Period, we reserve the right to make an additional charge for this.
Availability is on a request and confirmation basis at the time of your reservation. A reservation is only binding once the booking is confirmed by Hebridean Campers by email and a refundable deposit of £500 has been received.
Cash payment is not accepted.
For late bookings the full rental price is payable on booking. Vehicles will not be released without full payment being completed.
Please let us know as soon as you can if you need to cancel. A late cancellation fee of 50% will apply to all bookings cancelled within 10 weeks. All bookings cancelled within 10 days of hire are liable to a complete loss of full rental price.
Collection & Return
Collection: Please allow 1 hour for the hand-over to complete the documentation and demonstrate your vehicle to you. We will also agree any existing damage and the inventory of equipment supplied. Please also allow up to an hour for hand-over on return of your vehicle.
Return: The vehicle must be returned by 12 noon on the date stated at the top of the rental agreement in the same condition as it left with a full tank of diesel otherwise charges will apply. Charges may apply if the van is returned without a full tank of diesel.
Late return: if you are running late we must be advised immediately. Failure to advise may result in prosecution for driving whilst uninsured. An additional charge per hour is possibly payable for all late returns.
Terms and conditions
Definitions of Terms and Conditions:
“The Hirer” refers jointly and severally to the person or persons who are the customers.
“This Agreement'” means the Rental Agreement, the insurance Motor Rental Agreement and these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any discrepancy between these Terms and Conditions and any other literature, the provisions of these Terms and Conditions shall apply.
“The Campervan Owner” means Hebridean Campers
“Us/We” means Hebridean Campers
“Customer” means the person or persons nominated as the hirer in the booking
“Hire Details” on the insurance Motor Rental Agreement and any other person whose cheque is presented in payment of the customer’s charges.
“Equipment” includes but is not limited to the power pack, gas bottle, fridge, SatNav/Audio unit, bike rack, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, pillows, sheets and any extra rented items such as awnings, WC and the like.
“Rental Period” means the hire period referred to under the heading ‘Booking Details’ on the Rental Agreement or any agreed variation thereof and any additional period during which the vehicle is in the Hirers possession or control.
“Vehicle” means the vehicle described under the heading “Vehicle Details” on the Rental Agreement and includes tyres, tools, accessories, the equipment and any other special equipment, documents related to the Vehicle and any replacement or substitute Vehicle that may be provided at the discretion of The Campervan Owner.
“Security Deposit” means the Vehicle security deposit detailed under the heading “Vehicle Security Deposit” in the Motor Rental Agreement.
Delivery and Return of the Vehicle
The Hirer acknowledges having received the Vehicle in a clean condition and in sound working order in accordance with the Departure Checklist and with a full fuel tank.
The Hirer will return the vehicle in a clean condition with a full fuel tank, on the return date and time set out under the heading “Return date and time” in the Rental Agreement.
The Hirer acknowledges that The Campervan Owner will not refund any monies, nor have any obligation to provide a replacement vehicle, if the Vehicle is returned or the Hirer ceases to have the use of the Vehicle prior to the return date for any reason e.g. Accident, breakdown, weather or theft.
Rental and Other Charges
The Hirer will pay The Campervan Owner the following:
All rental charges. The security deposit. A cleaning fee if the Vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition.
The nominated cancellation fee in the event of cancellation of this agreement prior to acceptance of delivery of the vehicle. The cost of any damage to the Vehicle or the property of any third party, subject to the insurance cover. All government fees and duties etc; All parking fines, other fines or penalties, and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the Vehicle; and associated administration costs incurred in relation to the Vehicle during the Rental Period; Any other fees or charges payable by the Hirer pursuant to this Agreement. This includes any costs incurred by The Campervan Owner as a result of any breach by the Hirer of the terms of this Agreement. The daily rental rate for the period the Vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs. The cost of recovering a Vehicle that has become bogged.
Errors in Rental Charges
Total charges as set out therein are not final. The Hirer will pay any shortfall in charges to The Campervan Owner and the Hirer will receive a refund for any overcharge acknowledged by The Campervan Owner.
Payment of Charges Joint and Several Liability
All charges and expenses payable by the Hirer under this Agreement are due on demand by The Campervan Owner. The Hirer agrees to pay a late charge on any outstanding balance and any collection costs incurred by The Campervan Owner, including reasonable legal fees. When the Hirer comprises more than one person, each person is liable jointly and severally for all obligations of the customer pursuant to this Agreement.
All Vehicles may only be driven on sealed / bitumen roads. The Campervan Owner reserves the right at any time, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions or any other reasonable cause.
Use of the Vehicle
During the Hire Period You must: take all reasonable steps to keep the Campervan in good, neat and tidy condition and well and properly maintained; keep the Campervan within Scotland, England and Wales unless You have obtained written permission from us prior to the Hire Period; drive safely and responsibly and ensure that the Campervan is under Your control at all times; check the tyre pressure, oil and water levels at least once a week and contact us immediately if any warning lights or indicators (e.g. oil light) come on; drive only on surfaced roads, with the exception of campsite fields/camping areas. When driving the Campervan other than on a surfaced road (e.g. wet fields and beaches), You must take great care to ensure that You remain in control of the Campervan and ensure that the ground You are driving on is suitable and will not cause damage to the Campervan; and use only the correct fuel for the Campervan. During the Hire Period You must not: operate, drive or use the Campervan in any way which would or might violate the terms of the Contract; drive recklessly, dangerously or without due care and attention; overload the Campervan beyond its reasonable loading capacity; smoke or allow anyone else to smoke in the Campervan; engage in any form of racing, rallying or motorsport of any kind; leave the Campervan unlocked whilst unattended; tow any trailer caravan or any other item or vehicle unless You have specifically agreed this in writing with us prior to the Hire Period; commit any breach of any UK law, whether relating to road traffic or otherwise, in the Campervan; or allow any pets or animals to enter the Campervan unless You have specifically agreed this in writing with us prior to the Hire Period.
Alterations to the Vehicle
The Hirer shall not make any alterations or additions to the Vehicle without the prior written consent of The Campervan Owner.
The Hirer will not allow anyone to smoke in the vehicle as The Campervan Owner has a no smoking policy in all of their vehicles. A valeting charge will be incurred by the Hirer if this policy is ignored.
Pets are not allowed in the camper van.
The Hirer shall take all reasonable steps to properly maintain the Vehicle, including oil checks and water, and acknowledge that The Campervan Owner will reimburse the Hirer for expenditure up to £100 reasonably incurred in rectifying any mechanical failure to the engine of the Vehicle, provided that the Hirer produces relevant receipts at the end of the hire period and have received the prior consent of The Campervan Owner and that the damage is not due to any fault or by breach of this Agreement of the Hirer.
Responsibility if an accident occurs
In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the vehicle, the Hirer will notify The Campervan Owner within 24hrs of the happening of the event, obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses and report the event to the nearest police station. Also, the Hirer will complete a European accident report form as relevant, not make any admission of liability to other parties, settlement offer or other like offer.
The Hirer undertakes to assist The Campervan Owner in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and attending Court to give evidence.
Included within the Hire Price is Renault breakdown cover. If the Campervan breaks down during the Hire Period, You should contact the Renault on the numbers provided in the Roadside Breakdown documents, which are in Your Campervan. In the event of a breakdown, You must also contact us as soon as possible so we know what is happening and can establish whether we can help. You can use the Breakdown cover to help repair/replace a damaged/punctured tyre, or the windscreen of the Campervan. However, You are liable for the full cost of any damage to the windscreen (including the cost of any replacement) and the cost of tyre damage or punctures (including the cost of replacing any tyres). If You have a Campervan fitted with LPG, You may not have a spare wheel.
You are authorized to instruct repairs to the Campervan and the purchase replacement of parts up to a maximum cost of £100. In the event that You do instruct any repairs or replacement parts, You should obtain a receipt, and we will refund this to You at the end of the Hire Period. If You do not keep a receipt, we reserve the right to refuse the reimbursement of any costs incurred by You. We must approve any repairs or replacement parts in excess of £100 before the work is undertaken or the parts ordered. We will not reimburse any costs incurred in excess of £100 unless prior approval is obtained.
If You have an accident or damage the Campervan
If You are involved in an accident involving the Campervan, You must: not admit guilt or liability or do/say anything which may be treated as an admission of guilt or liability; take a record of the names, addresses and (as appropriate) insurance details of all 3rd parties involved and any witnesses; notify the police if there is any damage or injury to property, people or animals; take photographs if possible; contact us as soon as possible so we know what is happening and can establish whether we can help; not abandon the Campervan without taking all reasonable steps to prevent any further damage or loss; not drive the Campervan without our permission, pay the excess due under the Insurance Policy to us. If the Campervan cannot be repaired or made roadworthy within a period of 24 hours, we will try our best to make an alternative Campervan available to You, unless we in our sole discretion consider that Your act or omission has caused the accident. However, this may not always be possible and we cannot guarantee that a replacement Campervan will be available. We will not refund any of the Hire Price, or other ancillary charges, if we are unable to provide You with a replacement Campervan. If You damage the Campervan in any way (for example, smash a headlight, break an interior door handle, or break the tap fitting), it is very important that You contact us as soon as possible to let us know. This is particularly important to allow us to help You fix the problem if possible, and also if we need to order any replacement parts for re-fitting on the day You return the Campervan at the end of the Hire Period so it is ready for use again.
We will not be liable for any death or personal injury sustained by You, any member of Your party, or any third party except as arising directly as a result of our negligence. With the exception of the provisions of Condition 10.4, we will not be liable for any costs incurred in connection with any replacement vehicle costs, travel or accommodation costs or other losses resulting directly or indirectly from any unavailability, breakdown or other failure of a Campervan.
Terminating the Agreement
The Hirer acknowledges that The Campervan Owner may terminate this Agreement and repossess the Vehicle at any time, without notification to the Hirer, and that the Hirer will pay the reasonable costs of repossessing the Vehicle, including towing charges if the Hirer is in breach of any term of this Agreement, has obtained the Vehicle through fraud or misrepresentation, the Vehicle appears to be abandoned, the Vehicle is not returned on the agreed return date or The Campervan Owner reasonably believes that the Vehicle will not be returned on the agreed return date, The Campervan Owner considers on reasonable grounds, that the safety of passengers or the condition of the Vehicle is endangered.
In the event of such termination or repossession, the Hirer has no right to a refund of any part of the rental charges or the Security Deposit.
Change of Vehicle
The Campervan Owner reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to substitute a comparable or similar Vehicle for the Vehicle.
Release and indemnity of The Campervan Owner
Subject to its obligation to deliver the Vehicle or an appropriate substitute vehicle, the Hirer releases The Campervan Owner, its employees and agents, from any liability to the Hirer (regardless of who is at fault) for any loss or damage incurred by the Hirer by reason of this Agreement, including but not limited to any loss or damage caused by breakdown, mechanical defect, accident or the Vehicle being unsuitable for my purpose, any loss or damage to any property left in or on the Vehicle, in any service vehicle or on any The Campervan Owner premises or recovered or handled by The Campervan Owner. Subject to any insurance arrangements agreed with The Campervan Owner, the Hirer hereby indemnify and shall keep indemnified The Campervan Owner, its employees and agents against any claims, demands and expenses (including legal costs) incurred or sustained by them or any of them by reason of my use and/or possession of the Vehicle.
Title to Vehicle
The Hirer acknowledges that The Campervan Owner retains title to the Vehicle and that the Hirer possess the goods as a mere bailee only and do not have any right to pledge The Campervan Owner’ credit in connection with the Vehicle and agree not to do so and shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Vehicle.
Any changes to this agreement must be in writing and must be signed on behalf of The Campervan Owner and by the Hirer.
This agreement shall be governed by Scottish Law
This Agreement, constitutes the entire agreement of the parties and there are no other oral undertakings, warranties or agreements between the parties relating to the subject matter of this agreement. The Campervan Owner reserves the right to add or amend any rental charges without prior notice.
